Jennie Vader – Executive Director
Jennie is motivated by and passionate about social justice, especially gender and racial equality. Self-determination and empowerment have been the focal points of her career and she is endlessly driven to help people pursue their own dreams by working side by side with them. Jennie comes to WORD with over 10 years of experience in diverse nonprofit organizations. After graduating from Colorado College, Jennie served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan and then returned to the United States to pursue a Master’s Degree in Non-Profit Management and International Development at The Fletcher School, Tufts University. She developed and scaled multi-million dollar women’s economic and social empowerment programs in sub-Saharan Africa and led Operations for a social enterprise in Atlanta empowering women of color through entrepreneurship. She looks forward to using her skills and varied experiences in non-profit management and women’s empowerment to help WORD pursue it’s mission.
Jennie comes from a small mountain town in Colorado, but after visiting and living in many countries and cities around the world, she wanted to return to the tranquility of mountains and forests. She is excited to get to know and be an active member of the Missoula community.
Amy Chapman – Administrative Assistant
Amy was born and raised in Missoula Montana. She spends most of her time reading and playing with Lucy. Amy has a passion for WORD’s mission of Strengthening our community by creating opportunities that support and inspire women. Amy feels very grateful to work for such an amazing organization that helps the women and families of her home town.
Lucy Chapman – Service Dog
Lucy is a 4 year old Lab X. Lucy was adopted from Missoula animal control when she was 2 years old. Having been abandoned shortly after having a litter of pups, she soon found a new home and a new purpose. Lucy underwent an assessment prior to her adoption deeming her worthy or not to be a service dog candidate. Lucy passed with flying colors and was trained at Wind River Canine Partners in the Bitterroot Valley. Lucy loves laying on the couch, chasing squirrels, and she especially loves going to work each day with her owner.
Jenea Buhler – Women’s Re-Entry Program Coordinator
Jenea has a Masters of Social Work from Walla Walla University, and has been working with women and families in the Missoula and Bitterroot Valley for 16 years. She is passionate about empowerment and social justice. Currently Jenea coordinates WORDs Women’s Reentry Program, working with women in groups, and one on one. Jenea believes that all people should have a chance to not only survive, but thrive.
F.I.T. Family Advocate
Kim graduated from the University of Montana with a B.A. in Psychology and has been engaged in social work for over 20 years. She has been a Family Advocate with WORD since 2002, working with homeless families. Kim is passionate about her family and taking advantage of the beautiful Montana outdoors
